September's Favorite Things

So, I'll be honest. I still suck at remembering to take pictures. And I didn't wear a skirt of Friday. I just didn't want to. And Saturday was a lazy day without me worrying about lesson planning or grading at all. I sort of regretted it on Sunday, but, it was a much needed break.

Since today is the last day of the week, that means it's another Favorite Things link-up hosted by Ashley from Dancing With Ashley

1) My School

I absolutely love working at my school. Still absolutely hate the commute, but even with the fact that I have to work on lesson plans and grading everyday, all day, I love my students and my subject.

2) BYU Football

The first year I've ever been able to go to football games and watch without having to work! And Justin is so happy that I am actually beginning to understand football!!!!

3) Spending Labor Day Weekend with Justin's sister and family in Virginia! And running my first ever race!

4) ComiCon!

Justin and I are such geeks!

5) Going to the Temple and deciding on a new tradition.

We went to the temple last Friday and then went out to eat. We decided that we are going to make that an official monthly date: dinner and Temple trip every 3rd Friday of the month. October's will involve us eating at Red Robin to enjoy their Oktoberfest burger! Yum!

So, this weekend, we went to Comicon.

But, before I get into that, I have joined Skirtember challenge. This challenge is to wear a dress, skirt, or dress-shirt every day in September. Well, I didn't know about this until the 3rd. So, that day I dressed in a skirt for work (luckily I wore a skirt to church like I always do on Sundays).

Sunday, 9/1, I wore a black and cream maxi skirt, cream skirt, and a black wrap.

Monday, I didn't know and I traveled on a plane home.

Tues, 9/3 Skirt: old, Socks: old, Tank and Cardigan: old, Shoes: Sole Envy

Wednesday, 9/4 Shirt: Papaya, Skirt: BYU Bookstore, Tights: H&M, Shoes: Payless

Thursday, 9/5 I wore a pink dress with a brown shirt and tights.

Friday 9/6 Skirt: Black and cream maxi, Doctor Who fan shirt.

Sat 9/7 I wore a costume for Comicon--no skirt.

Sunday, 9/8 Skirt and shirt: WalMart, Tights: H&M, Shoes:Payless

Friday, we went after I was done teaching. Saturday, we dressed up. We saw a lot of cool costumes and some awesome booths. We went to a few panels, but honestly, some were boring and all were packed. Salt Lake City didn't expect this many tickets to be sold. It was jam-packed on Saturday--over 50,000. They eventually stopped letting people in. We hung out with a few friends.

I dressed up as Rogue, based off the cartoon, X-Men: Evolution.

I Already Want Another 3-Day Weekend

I guess it is that mid-semester slump. I am already wanting another 3-Day weekend and I still have a few hours left with this one.

I am a type-A personality...busy, busy, busy. And with my parents' genes, it's not a good combo: anxiety as well as a need to be productive. I get antsy when I am not doing something. So, when I actually lay back and relax, the feeling is so nice, I don't want it to leave.

Just like this weekend. I finished all my grading and lesson planning on Friday ad scrubbed our apartment on Saturday, so Justin and I could enjoy the weekend at my parents' house.

Saturday was relaxing: visiting and catching up with siblings, grocery shopping with my mom (one of my favorite kinds of outings with her), and video games.

Sunday was a great day, except for the part where I was nauseous all day long and my stomach felt like it wanted to murder me. (I wasn't sick, no fever, no symptoms...just no appetite and nausea--not fun.) It was a special day on Sunday, though. My brother Bobby, who just turned 16, was going to be ordained a priest in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. 

After church, my mom's side of the family came over to see the ordination, as well as celebrate 4 birthdays. My Aunt Wendy's and mine were on the 10th, cousin Jordan's on the 12th, and Bob's on the 13th. So, we each had our own birthday pie to make a wish on. And the weirdest thing was I had absolutely no idea what to wish for. Every single birthday I've ever had, I've wished for something, but this year, I didn't. I was a little let down by myself, and a little confused. Does that mean I'm just growing-up, or is it a good thing since I am not in need?

Sad thing again: because of the nausea, I was only able to have 2 small bites of the razzleberry pie.

Later that night, Justin, Bobby, and I broke out the Super Smash Brothers. We played for about an hour, killing each other and laughing at silly self-destructs and the misfortune that Random Characters gave us. Then, Bobby and I felt it necessary to induct Justin into the epic-ness that is Lord of the Rings risk. 

Now, here is the thing: I typically get tired at about 8:30-9:30 pm. This was 11pm. Everyone else had gone to sleep. I wasn't tired. I was excited. We turned on the Lord of the Rings soundtrack and let the epic game begin.

See how intense the game is!?!?!? There was some major strategizing going on!

Interesting thing about Lord of the Rings Risk: it ends when the ring makes it from Hobbiton to Mount Doom, regardless of if there was world domination. So, it turned out to be a pretty even game, with Bobby barely winning. The game ended at 2AM and I was tired. That was the absolute latest I had stayed up for about a year! 

Today was a free laundry day! (Another great thing about going home for the weekends.) I also got a haircut!

I love my new hair cut! It looks cute and sexy, playful yet sophisticated! And mom said, "Now you look like a teacher!" Yaay!

Boo! I have to go to school tomorrow...another 3 day weekend please?

What a Geek-tastic Night!

Last night, my fiancee hosted a Finals' Smash!

He invited his roommates, and some old friends (with their appendages). So, in total, we had about 13-ish people there. Only 4 girls.

While the boys were setting up the Wii and getting out the food, we girls talked about Once Upon a Time and Dr. Who, even mentioning a little bit of Sherlock. We talked about how awesome it would be to meet the Dr. and have a TARDIS baby....I got a funny look from Justin on that comment.

Then, it was SUPER SMASH BROTHERS BRAWL TIME!!! We did a rotation, allowing the two losers to give their controllers to 2 new people. The whole time, we were eating pizza and brownies, drinking soda, laughing it up, and getting super intense into the rounds. There were some great moves, some awesome kills, and some miraculous winners. Justin is my hero in Super Smash. He is awesome at it and wins all the time. However, I did pretty good--I was one of the guys...I got 2nd place quite a few times and even beat Justin once!!!!

There was even a comment that how cool it was that I played video-games and Justin found me. Then, one of Justin's roommates said how he was afraid of and for our children...what kind of smashers would they be!

All in all, it was a great night of video-game playing, fiancee showing me off, eating, partying, and laughing right before finals. I am glad I am a geek and I am glad I am marrying a geek. We will have an awesome geeky marriage!
