How Well Do You Know Me?

I thought I'd make today a bit interesting...

I want to see how well you actually know me and my blog and make it interactive and fun. (It's not all altruistic, though. This is will grow my interaction, my page views, and other stats!) But, you get rewards!

There will be prizes given to the three who answer the most questions correctly, and this quiz will run for the rest of the week--I'll announce the winner on Saturday the 26th. The prizes are:
1) $5 to Starbucks and a free ad on my blog
2) A free ad on my blog
3) A free ad on my blog

However, as I know that quizzes can be stressful, and since I have always been a nice teacher, there will be a few extra credit "task/questions" and I will allow it to be "open book"--use the blog to search for the answers! There are 20 questions and 4 extra credit questions.

Good luck!

Ducks, BBQ Sauce, and Root Beer (Boy Behind the Blog)

Yaay! Time for another Boys Behind the Blog post, starring Justin!

1. If you were an animal, what animal would you be?
Lets face it, I'd be a duck.....

In all honesty though, I would be a duck.  Fly forever.  Chill on a lake.  Eat breadcrumbs.  That, my friends, would be the life.

2. What is your favorite meal?
Take a meat, grill it, then cover it in BBQ sauce.  favorite food ever

3. Do you use any forms of Social Media? What is your favorite?
Facebook.  I've had numerous other like Myspace and Xanga, and I have accounts on some others that I never touch.  So just Facebook for me.

4. Beer, wine, liquor, other, or none of the above?
Being Mormon, I don't drink alcohol.  However, my buds and I have stated what kind of beer we would drink if we did drink.  Mine was Sam Adams.

I have been known to drink my weight in root beer however...

5. Complete the sentence: "Never have I ever..."
finished reading a required book for school....seriously.  I got a B on an essay I wrote in High School on Pride and Prejudice.  I only read 2 pages.

Tayler still isn't happy about that last one....

Two Geeks Walk into a Con

News Flash:
I am such a GEEK!!!
As is Justin. Which is why our marriage is awesome!!!!!
So, this weekend, we went to Comicon.

But, before I get into that, I have joined Skirtember challenge. This challenge is to wear a dress, skirt, or dress-shirt every day in September. Well, I didn't know about this until the 3rd. So, that day I dressed in a skirt for work (luckily I wore a skirt to church like I always do on Sundays).

Sunday, 9/1, I wore a black and cream maxi skirt, cream skirt, and a black wrap.
Monday, I didn't know and I traveled on a plane home.
Tues, 9/3 Skirt: old, Socks: old, Tank and Cardigan: old, Shoes: Sole Envy
Wednesday, 9/4 Shirt: Papaya, Skirt: BYU Bookstore, Tights: H&M, Shoes: Payless
Thursday, 9/5 I wore a pink dress with a brown shirt and tights.
Friday 9/6 Skirt: Black and cream maxi, Doctor Who fan shirt.
Sat 9/7 I wore a costume for Comicon--no skirt.
Sunday, 9/8 Skirt and shirt: WalMart, Tights: H&M, Shoes:Payless

So, onto Geekdom!!!
Friday, we went after I was done teaching. Saturday, we dressed up. We saw a lot of cool costumes and some awesome booths. We went to a few panels, but honestly, some were boring and all were packed. Salt Lake City didn't expect this many tickets to be sold. It was jam-packed on Saturday--over 50,000. They eventually stopped letting people in. We hung out with a few friends.

I dressed up as Rogue, based off the cartoon, X-Men: Evolution.

I think I pulled it off. Here are some other pictures from ComiCon!

Gollum doesn't like my advances!
Korra from Legend of Korra and a Kyoshi Warrior from Avatar the Last Airbender
Ulquiorra's last form from Bleach anime!
Justin and I adventured in the TARDIS!
Justin's Wolverine! Doesn't he look awesome!!
He totally pulled the look off!
There is a girl inside that moving Dalek!
Thor doesn't want to be touched by Rogue--he knows what'll happen to him!
My favorite Bleach character: Urahara!
Justin found Gru on his way to steal the moon!
What a nice Ood! Very obedient when I asked to take a picture with it.
Loki, Captain America, and Thor-a
Justin found his idol.
Captain Kirk! William Shatner!
Jana, this one is for you! We snuck a picture of Dean Cane, when we should have paid $40 for it!
I have proof I saw the Silence!!! No more forgetting!

Three Days Grace

Wanna know something sad about me?
In all my 23 years of life, I have never once been to a concert.

But, that changed last night.

As a hormonal, "not-sure-if-I'm-goth-or-emo-or-just-a-normal" middle schooler, I was introduced to a few hard rock and darker bands by friends. Evanescence was definitely my favorite. Then, from friends and siblings, I was introduced to Three Days Grace in highschool, but didn't really begin to like them until my freshman year of college. That was also the year I found Air 1 Radio.

Justin loves that type of music, so when our friend Garrett found out Three Days Grace was going to perform in Salt Lake City, Justin immediately bought tickets. I was excited. I actually knew a few songs of this band and it would be my first concert.

Justin and Garrett took me to Salt City Burger in Sandy. They had gone to this burger joint many, many, many times during their mission and thought it was one of the best burger places ever. Justin said he was just about as excited to go to Salt City Burger as the Three Days Grace concert.

I will tell you--I completely understand why he said that! It was delicious! They have huge burgers and they actually mix bacon within their ground beef!! They also have a topping/filling bar so you can put your own sauces and vegetables. I did not like how you had to pay extra for cheese on your burger. Their onion rings were very good and fresh with their own batter. And oh my goodness. The shake was to die for! Justin and I split a large chocolate peanut butter shake and that was plenty for the both of us.

When we got to the concert, the line wrapped around the block! As we walked down the line, we could definitely see a lot of goths...like wearing full-fledged goth outfits--almost costume-like. We hadn't seen those since high school! Then, a security guy came down, warning everyone to have their tickets and IDs out. We looked at the tickets--it was at a 21+ venue. Now, Justin is 24, Garrett is 24 and I'm 23.  Over 21+, but I didn't have my wallet with me. The boys did, but I had no ID. What if I didn't look 21? I hurried and brought up my BYU account page on my iPhone, which has a picture, name, and birthday and hoped that they would accept that. When we got to the front of the line, they let Justin right in without checking his ID--we claim it's his awesome sideburns that make him look older. But, they wanted to see an ID for me. So, apparently, I don't look 21 even though I'm 23! But, they let me through! Whew!

The venue was indoors--kind of a bar-esque lounge. It was very interesting to be in that kind of atmosphere for the first time. I was very thirsty, but all we could see was alcoholic drinks or very expensive water bottles. Thankfully, they had canisters of tap water for free! Whew!

The opening band was called Otherwise. For the most part, I didn't really like them--they were a bit too hardcore rock for me. I even had to go out the the stairwell during one of their songs due to the amount of cussing they had.

I was very happy when Three Days Grace finally came out.  I recognized a few of their songs from the radio. But, to be honest, I only have 5 of their songs. Garrett and Justin rocked out and sang to almost all the songs.

Finally, there was a song I recognized, "I Hate Everything About You." I was able to rock on with the rest and sing the lyrics. It was quite a fun experience and guess what!?! I didn't even get a headache! We left a little early because the lead singer brought out a friend of his and they started doing a very explicit cover with cuss words happening a lot. So, we booked it out of there.

But, I am very glad I was able to go to my first ever concert!
