Extroverted Introvert

What do you consider yourself: an extrovert or an introvert?

Growing up, I considered myself an extrovert. My mom used to say that I could make friends very easily. And I did. I also was very outspoken about my opinions, and always had a say at school. I was also involved in many sports and activities.

But, something happened when I went to college. I became quieter. I started listening and watching more rather than being an active participant. I would follow my roommates, rather than create and host event myself. I wouldn't jump into the foray. That is, until I got to know people well enough.

With my roommates, I was wild and crazy, and all of us never shut up. But, when it came to a big party, I tended to stay in a corner. But, then, again, in class, I was willing to actively participate in not only class discussion, but group discussions as well. I even became an EFY counselor, and they are known for being wild and crazy. I was!

It's so interesting the dichotomy. I have no problem whatsoever getting up in front of a classroom and teaching (as well as being kooky while doing it) or giving a spiritual talk or lesson at church. I have no problem taking the lead on group projects. And, obviously, I have no problem with putting myself out there on the internet. But, when I go to blogger meetups, I tend to be quiet and make myself oblivious. When Justin and I go to parties, I tend to cling onto him, and let him take the socializing reigns.

I love being with other people, but I hate big crowds--it makes me a little nervous. I love talking with others and having a grand ol' time, but I hate initiating conversations. So, I tend to call myself an extroverted introvert.

But, one of my goals this year, to be more intentional is to try to initiate conversations, participate more in church discussions, be more open and friendly rather than try not to bring attention to myself. I want to become an extroverted extrovert. I also want to put my phone away when I'm with people...because I'm an introvert, I tend to turn to my phone as an "escape". But, I want to be more present and involved.

What do you consider yourself? How do you handle yourself in a small group of friends vs a new larger group of people?

Blogger Men Tell All & Guys Behind the Blog // April

Because of scheduling, Justin gets double duty today and will be doing both of his linkups today! Lucky you! Yaaaay!

1) Has Starbucks ever spelled your name wrong on a cup? If yes, what's the craziest way that someone has spelled it?
Well, I rarely ever go to Starbucks, but I have had some very interesting variations on my last name.  Morel, Morale, Merrill, Monrel, Mower, Maxwell....The list goes on.

2) Who would play your wife/fiance/girlfriend in a movie or TV show about your lives?
Like, who would best represent my wife, or who would I want to be my wife?  Ideally, I would love Mandy Moore to play my wife.

But if I went on looks, I think either Amy Adams or Isla Fisher.

And if Tayler was being cast in her British/Welsh ancestry, complete with accent, I'd go with Lucy Griffiths.

3) What is your proudest accomplishment?
I have 3.  I beat a Polynesian at an eating contest, I beat an Asian at Dance Dance Revolution, and I beat my English Teacher wife at Scrabble.
In all seriousness, Rhys.  Rhys is my proudest accomplishment.

I mean, come one...look at that face
4) What is your favorite holiday and why?
My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving.  Food, family, and football.  You literally are given 1 entire day to eat and 1 day afterwards to sit and veg out.

5) What is your favorite breed of dog?  If you don't have a favorite breed, describe the characteristics of your ideal dog (or cat)!
Pugs are best dogs.  Pugs, or really big dogs.  Nothing in between.  If its a small dog, it must be a pug.

Anything bigger than a pug, it must be big enough for a toddler to ride like a horse.  Or even ride like a bear.

1. What is the last song you listened to?

2. What would you sing at a karaoke night?
Just about anything.  I have been told I do a great rendition of Kryptonite by 3 Doors Down.  Be noted, I am a hideous singer.  Not in the "Oh, I'm sure you sound good even though you think you're a bad singer" kind of way.  I'm like, the borderline tone-deaf kind of way.

3. Would you describe yourself as an introvert or an extrovert?

I would describe myself as an extrovert who enjoys his alone time.

4. What is one thing you will never do again?

Drink a half cup of apple cider vinegar.  Straight.
I was reading online about how good ACV is for you, and I've read all these different recipes and drink detoxes you can do with it, and so I thought I would try it out.  Yeah, totally didn't read the ingredients thoroughly.  Its like, 1 tablespoon of ACV to 1 cup of water.  Don't know how I got 1/2 cup of undiluted ACV from that, but I did.  I will never do it again.

5. How do you think [your blogger] has benefited from blogging?

Well, she has won a lot of really neat free stuffs, but she has also made a lot of good friends that have been there for her during rough times, and that is worth more than anything she could fiscally make off of this.

How did you come up with the name to your blog?
It actually comes from my Facebook page I started years ago when I decided that I wanted to make quality hand crafted items and sell them.  My first name, Aliza, is tricky to say, so I used my nickname from college for my page.  When I was working full time, I took a break from crafting and creating.  Recently I have started working on projects again.  I found that I really liked sharing my projects, recipes, and reviews with others.  That’s how my blog came about!

What is your blog's mission or goal?
I want to share my creative ideas for crafts and recipes, and let people know about interesting places to visit or new products to try.

Besides blogging, what are some other hobbies of yours?
I love to read, work in my garden, spend time with my kiddos, travel, work on recording my family history, and watching tv – right now I’m watching the Doctor Who series again.

What is the best thing about blogging for you?
I love to be creative and work on projects.  Blogging has given me a way to share those pojects with other people so they can create them too.  I like being able to share art exhibits that are interesting and pictures of the beautiful earth around us.  I know how much I love to visit other blogs and get ideas and I hope that other people will be helped by visiting my blog too.

What are 3 of your favorite posts you've written?
