Meet Jessica Lynn Writes!

I love getting to know different bloggers, especially when we have something in common! Especially when they find me!

I met Jessica from Jessica Lynn Writes. She's a mom of two beautiful little girls and is married to a Air Force man! (Thank him for a service, Jessica!) What I like most is that she writes about a hodgepodge of things, just like me, and mostly about her kids!

Get to know her a bit better and check her out! (She's also hanging around the bottom of each post this entire month!)

How did you come up with the name to your blog?
My blog has had many names over the years, and most of them were niche-related, but once I realized I wanted to write about many things, I decided to go for something a little more broad. "Jessica Lynn Writes," while not a fun name with a play on words or anything like that, is my brand. My name is Jessica Lynn and I love to write!

What is your blog's mission or goal?
I don't live near family, and even my husband is gone for several months out of the year, so my number one goal is to provide a place for our family and friends to keep up with our lives. I love to tell stories and share parts of our lives, so this is the best outlet for me. Yes, Facebook is great for that, but some of our older relatives don't have Facebook. They do, however, have email and get my posts sent to them directly.

What is the best thing about blogging for you?
There are so many great things! I love interacting with readers, and then having those readers become real-life friends. I love connecting with other people over the words I share. But the best thing is probably the opportunity to have an outlet. I love writing, and I'm thankful for my blog.

What has been the hardest thing about blogging?
It's hard to not get caught up in the numbers by trying to be the best and biggest blog on the block. Blogging ebbs and flows, just like life, and it's hard to keep it up all the time. It's hard to remember why it is, exactly, that you blog. I've started making a profit on my blog, so I'm still a work in progress when it comes to finding the balance between wanting those numbers to go up, and wanting to write meaningful posts that people will enjoy reading (and that I'll enjoy writing). It's also really hard when you put your heart and soul (and time) into a post, only to have it be one of the least-commented posts.

What are some lessons you've learned while blogging?
I've learned SO much from blogging. I've learned that this is my me time. I'm a happier person when I can spend time creating something for my blog. A lot of work goes into a post, even if it's a post without pictures, so I've had to learn some time management, and to be able to put a post on the back-burner if something else (family related, mostly) comes up.

Besides blogging, what are some other hobbies of yours?
I love reading! I forgot about it for awhile, but I made a goal at the beginning of the year to read 10 books, and I've already surpassed that! It's hard to find time to read, but a Kindle makes it easier...as does a husband who makes me take a bath once a week so I can relax. I also LOVE traveling. It makes me happy, and I'm really excited to take my kids on trips. My daughter has already been to a handful of countries, and she's about to mark Disney World off her list this fall!

What are your plans for the summer?Funny you should ask, because I made a Summer Bucket List :) I also plan on staying inside. Today the heat index is 109, which is just a tad bit out of my comfort zone.

What are 3 of your favorite posts you've written?
This question always stumps me! I've been blogging for 10 years, so I have more than a few posts under my belt! In no particular order, these are my current favorite three:
What Being a First-Time Mom is Really Like
Any of my travel posts make me happy.
A Love Letter to my Pee Pad

Thanks, Jessica! I'm excited to get to know her better, as well! Go check her out!
