Stormy Weather

This whole week has had on-and-off thunderstorms. I love it. Since I live in a desert valley, it is so amazingly beautiful to drive toward the mountains on the way to work, with storm clouds rising above them and the sun (behind me) illuminating the scene. I really wish I had a picture--but I was always driving, so that's unsafe--to show you the true majestic beauty of it! Justin and I have loved listening to the rain and the lightening and thunder. We both grew up on the East Coast, where long lasting, big drop, warm, breezy thunderstorms were the norm in spring and summer. We just wish the storms here would last longer!

I've also been having an up and down emotional week. Rhys is teething, learning to stand/walk, and is super clingy, my students are getting spring fever, I've had headaches, plans have been cancelled, and my hormones and cycles have been insane due to the type of BC I'm on. So, although the storms this week have cancelled our plans for this weekend, it'll be good to have a day of just relaxing (that is, if I decide to not do any house chores!).

So, as I try to avoid cleaning and scrubbing, you can enjoy some good reads!

  1. Eek, BC hormone changes are the WORST. About a month ago I went off of mine because I realized that it had been making me depressed and feeling "not me" for two solid years. It's crazy how people can have such different reactions to the same product. I hope you start feeling better this week!

One of the things I miss the most about the Midwest is the spring and summer storms. I can count on one hand how many times I've heard thunder in LA. Each time we go home I always say a little prayer that we will be treated to a thunderstorm or two.

Hope you have a fabulous Mother's Day!!

  3. Rainy season appears to have just started here--and I love it when we can stay inside and listen to the storms. It's not quite as convenient when we're trying to walk to the grocery store. ;P
