It is so peaceful, but in a mystical way. Hearing the drops hit the ground in a constant rhythm is almost hypnotic. There is some mystery, some story behind it. Like it's trying to tell a story, but struggling to find the words.
I just love the atmosphere of rain. The smell of fresh earth, of hope and repentance, of cut grass and grey clouds. The shadow of fog turning everything to a shade of blue and green--a vision of a dark day.
It's hot chocolate weather. A time to grab my favorite sweatshirt and turn on the heat. Time to swaddle in my blankets and open the blinds. Time to watch and listen.
I remember the storms in Virginia--powerful, vengeful sparks of lightening trying to prove their more powerful than the large drops of angry rain. I loved sitting on my front porch watching the ditches fill with water and our yards flood. Or, sitting in my basement room, with only my nightstand light casting a inspirational glow on my pale lavender walls. I'd listen to the rain as it pounded on the porch above my basement window. It was an ethereal experience.
Now, I don't really like being out in the rain. It's wet. It's cold. My glasses fog up and I can't see through the droplets. My thick, curly hair frizzes up that I literally look like Mrs. Frizzle!
But, it is some of the best weather to watch, listen to, smell and see! How I love the rain!

I love a late night rainstorm when I can cuddle up with my man and hear the pounding rain outside!

A rainstorm is one of my favorite things as long as I don't have to go anywhere!
