Sushi!

I don't like sushi.
Why? Because it is seaweed with raw fish and weird spices and sometimes little orange fish eggs...
I watched Nemo...I like little baby fishes; I don't want to eat them.
It is foreign, it is weird, it is raw.

Now don't get me wrong. I like plenty of foreign food. But sushi I was not willing to budge.

So, one of my friends was challenged to a sushi eating contest and it became an apartment-complex-wide activity. A group of about 12 of us gathered together to watch Jordan and KC go head-to-head chowing down sushi.

Now, here is the thing...Jordan is a boy. But KC is a very competitive athletic girl. Jordan served a 2 year mission in Japan...eating sushi. KC hasn't really eaten sushi. But KC is very determined.
Justin, my fiancee, loves sushi, but wasn't part of the eating contest to his disappointment.

I decided to go along, perhaps to have some other form of Japanese food. But, when Justin and I arrived, the only thing we were handed was the sushi menu...

I decided to swallow my fear and try sushi.
A couple weeks previously, Justin and I ate a Korean friend's house with authentic Korean food, including seaweed. So, I knew I liked seaweed.

I started out slowly. A roll of tempura veggies, a roll of tempura salmon, fried cream cheese and salmon, salmon and crab. I still stayed away from the little fish eggs, even the Godzilla...but, I ate

and ate

                           and ATE.

I ended at 30 pieces of sushi. I was so stuffed, I didn't want to move. It was delicious. I have been converted.
Oh, and by the way, Justin ate only 50. I say only 50 because we had to go meet our engagement photographer and he didn't want to have to be rolled to their house. He could've eaten way more.

KC and Jordan? For all of Jordan's smack talking, it did him little good.
Jordan: 51
KC: 56

But, don't take my word for it...watch our mockumentory here:

That was a couple weeks ago.

The weird thing is: I have been craving sushi since then!
