I have a lot of blogger friends who dress super adorably. Some of them consider themselves fashion bloggers, some don't. I do some fashion posts, but there is no way I'd call myself a fashion blogger. But, we still like to dress up, sometimes! So, just like I did with the Creative Closet, I'm trying to use my clothes that I already own a lot more creatively. So, I am so glad to be teaming up with Brooke from Silver Lining for How We Wore It.
This series takes inspiration from real fashion bloggers. We are to create an outfit from items we already own, in imitation or inspiration from specified prompt pictures.
This month was from Memorandum.
So, here is my version. I'll give you a little secret...I've owned my white skirt since I was my students' age: 7th grade! I actually had a super cute floral, larger-cut button down that I absolutely love, and it looked adorable together, but then I realized it looked a little weird...and that's because my skirt has a textured pattern on it...so, I had to change shirts.
And here is another secret...my legs aren't really that tan. But, I have to wear tights or nylons to work...it's part of our teacher dress code. Well, why couldn't I have just taken of the tights to do the shoot? Because my pale, sensitive skin was razor burned! Blech!

And here's the last secret...it's been raining in Utah since the beginning of May. So, every time I was ready to take photos, the weather deterred me. I have a baby (who is clingy and on/off sick due to teething) and I have been recovering from yet another upper respiratory infection--like my 4th one since January! (GRRRRR), so I had to take the pictures inside. And, even more than that, I couldn't find my tripod. So, I wrangled my sister, who nannies Rhys during the day, to help me. Which is also why Rhys pops into the pictures as well. Hopefully the weather will be better next month and I can find my tripod!

Brittany from Stepping on Dandelions
I came up with the name for another project, but when I was trying to decide on a title for my bible, I thought it went perfect for what my blog was about: not having it all together. My title, 'Stepping on Dandelions', means we all have our good days and bad days. A dandelions is typically linked with wishes. So on bad days you might step on a dandelion instead of making a wish because wishing seems pointless. But on good days, you might step on a dandelion because life is perfect in your eyes, and you don't want to wish for anything more. It might not make sense to some, but that's the basis of my blog's title.
2) What is your blog's mission or goal?
My goal is for each person to know that they are not alone. I've struggled with so many things in my twenty years of existence that very few people know about. I always felt alone, and I don't want anyone to ever feel the way I did. So with my blog, I hope to give that little bit of faith and encouragement that I never had.
3) Besides blogging, what are some other hobbies of yours?
Definitely American Sign Language! I am currently majoring in it in college, and I love interpreting songs. It's my favorite hobby besides blogging, of course! Another hobby is writing fiction. My dream is to publish a fiction novel in the future! Hopefully this is one hobby that can turn into a career one day.
4) What is the best thing about blogging for you?
The best thing about blogging is getting a comment saying that something I wrote touched or impacted them in some way. I don't care about the stats, I just care about my impact. To me, that's the best thing that can happen concerning my blog: to impact one person for the better.
5) What are 3 of your favorite posts you've written?
My top favorite one is probably my 'Body Image Through God's Eyes' post. I said some things in there that I never thought I'd say, let alone write for the public eye, but I did in hopes that other people can see that they are beautiful and perfect just the way they are. Another favorite post is 'Goodbye, you', saying goodbye to something that has been affecting me lately and lastly, 'Fifty Shades of Crazy, which I wrote while my Facebook feed was full of the movie, so decided to write my views on it as a Christian. These are my favorite posts at the moment!

Love this! I have a few old pieces too that I just keep wearing. And I know I'll be sad when they get too worn out and my wardrobe can't be from 2004 anymore haha. Thanks for joining me!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you've had that skirt for so long. I love this look! So cute!
ReplyDeleteThat skirt is so cute! I would say I can't believe you've had your skirt that long, but I'm pretty sure I've had some of my clothes even longer...
ReplyDeleteVery cute and classy! Just two days ago I wore a skirt to work that I've had since high school (so not quite 7th grade!)...but I noticed it's starting to show some wear. I like those clothes that stick in the wardrobe for a long time!
ReplyDeleteThis outfit is beautiful! And Rhys's feature is perfect. I love it!
ReplyDeleteCUUUTE. I love your shoes! & the baby on the hip makes it all great haha!
ReplyDeleteCute skirt, Tayler!! Love it!
ReplyDeleteIt amazes me how many pieces of clothing I still have from jr high and high school!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I liked your look, too!
ReplyDeleteHahaha! At least we don't have to buy a new wardrobe to fit us!
ReplyDeleteI'm not necessarily a fan of the skirt anymore, but it's a white skirt, and still in fine condition, and white is a staple! So...cheap me won the battle.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I love showing him off! I'm a little obsessed with Rhys if you haven't noticed! ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Stephanie!
ReplyDeletegreat job matching the inspiration photo. this rain is killing me. i got lucky and found a sunny day for pics.
ReplyDeleteI am so fed up with the rain, I'm grateful for the precipitation since we didn't get any this winter, but the weather affects me emotionally....
ReplyDeleteI'm trying not to be grumpy because I know we need it, but I'm so tired of being wet.
