** I couldn't thin of any other post to write, so I guess I'll ramble about life lately.
** I miss having good nails! I've had crappy nails that never really grow long or strong, except during my pregnancy. Now that my postpartum hormones are running dry, my nails are always, always breaking! Even with nail strengthening polish! It's driving me insane!
** Utah's weather is crazy! It's been gorgeous during the month of March, but then last week, there was a weird storm. One day, it was in the 70's in the morning. Rhys and I went running. Then, when I was stretching, it started to get super windy. It continued throughout the day and I could feel my car move as I drove to work mid-morning. On my way home, a dust storm was blowing in. By dinner, it was raining. By bedtime, it was snowing. By morning, it was in the 30s and looked like the picture below. Then, the next day it got warm and all melted.
** Rhys has the ability to stand all by himself. He's done it a few times, but always gets nervous. Whenever he realizes it, or I let go of him, he immediately squats down. Poor boy. He's never not had confidence in himself.
** School is crazy-insane. My 6th period (the average Literature students--our writing and reading classes are ability grouped in each grade) is doing so well! They are almost all doing their homework, paying attention, working hard, etc! I'm so proud of them! However, my 7th period (the lower level--6 out of my 10 students have IEPs, the rest are just very low, and all have behavioral issues) is just getting harder and harder. Not that they are bad, but they just can't and won't focus anymore. With noises, trying to one-up each other into laughing with their antics, never doing their homework, and complaining and shouting that everything we do is "stupid". It is very draining. I think I could handle it better if it wasn't my last class. But, it's just not me with this group--it's all the junior high teachers who struggle with this group.
** My 6th period is about to finish Around the World in 80 Days. They've enjoyed it, especially the comedic things that happened in it. I promised them that if 80% of them get an 80% (my passing standard) on their last quiz and project, then we will watch the Disney version (starring Jackie Chan). They are very excited about that.
** My 7th period just barely finished Hatchet...it took us all of Term 3 and a three weeks into Term 4! Pacing is definitely something I'm still trying to get used to with this class. It's basically a special education class with the amount of IEPs and level of ability, but I'm not trained for it!
** Justin and I feel like high schoolers again--we are binge watching our favorite seasons of my favorite anime: Bleach!
** Weekends need a third day. One day to completely veg out and party and do whatever we want. One for church. One for getting prepped and prepared and productive for the rest of the week.
** We just got a medical bill for Justin that surprised us. It wasn't covered by any insurance because of a lapse of medical financial aide. Stupid insurance! Stupid medical bills! It's a little frightening as it is the biggest bill we have ever seen, ever! Hopefully we can figure it out this week and maybe our pharmaceutical financial aide will be retroactive! If not, yikes!
** We certainly think that Rhys is teething, as does everyone else, but the teeth just won't show! Poor boy!
** I love the first picture in this post that I took! I love taking pictures with my DSLR, however, I haven't really been working on my goal.
** I've misplaced my flash drive. I packed it up to take home with me during spring break (the last week of March), but can't find it now. I wonder if it is in Farmington at my parents' place or Nephi at my in-laws...
** I've been pretty good at making sure Rhys naps in his crib, but Saturday, neither of us were feeling well in the morning, so I made him lay next to me on the couch, and we watched Curious George until he fell asleep in my arms. Then, I fell asleep and woke up realizing I had been drooling on his head! Poor Rhys! But I certainly loved cuddling with him!

What is going on in your life?

I totally agree that weekends need a third day. Two just isn't nearly enough to get it all done. Especially when you keep the Sabbath.
ReplyDeleteI hope that Rhys' teeth show soon! I have horribly broken nails at the moment, I want pretty nails for spring but it's not happening!
ReplyDeleteExactly! It would make life easier! Now if that meant we had an 8 day week, or 4 weekdays and 3 for the weekend, it doesn't matter.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I hope so too!
ReplyDeleteThe three-day weekend thing is NO JOKE. Seriously that would be SOOO nice. This was a fun post to read :)
ReplyDeleteUgh medical bills and insurance is the worst! We had a bunch of big surgeries in my family this summer and it can all be really frustrating. Will be thinking about you - I hope it all works itself out! Have a fabulous week!

It definitely would!! Thanks, Hannah!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Taylor!
ReplyDeleteSign me up for the 3 day weekend thing! I swear weekends always fly by and I either feel like I didn't relax at all or didn't get anything done.
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly why we need a third day!
ReplyDeleteThe Utah weather sounds a lot like what Iowa receives in the spring. It's so unpredictable!
ReplyDeleteI'm all for three-day weekends being a regular thing. It seems as if weekends finish before they ever really start!
Exactly about weekends! I also hope that the US will get the memo and realize it is SPRING and about to be SUMMER!
